Since relocating to Costa Rica, the emphasis of Costa Rica K-9 has turned to training personal and home protection dogs. Although we continue to work with our Missouri affiliate, LaFollette Training Center, supplying them with narcotics dogs upon request, the marked increase in home invasions in Costa Rica has caused the redirection of our training. We have placed eight of our dogs in Costa Rican homes this past year where they are now securing peace and confidence for their families.

The goal of Costa Rica K-9 is to breed German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois that will be the finest working dogs in Central America. We are constantly aware of this goal as we socialize and obedience train the puppies, so that they develop and maintain the confidence and courage to do the bite work.

Our dogs are now working protecting and detecting in the United States, Haiti, Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica. They are working in private homes, police departments, businesses, shipyards, and airports.

We strive to make the best fit between dog and buyer. Since dogs have personalities and idiosyncrasies just like people do, this is a top priority when placing a dog. If the match is deliberate from the start, chances are that it will work, thus lessening the likelihood of having to replace the dog.
